Jennifer Head, Ph.D.
President | Senior Editor, Writer, and Analyst
Dr. Head is the founder and president of Synergy Scientifics LLC and has a deep passion for science, language, and technical writing. These passions have been synergistically combined into a successful post-academic career as a scientific editor, technical writer, and research consultant. Dr. Head has nearly 30 years of experience in the sciences and has edited and/or written close to 800 scientific manuscripts and other technical documents over the course of her career.
Dr. Head has had rich, diverse, and rewarding experiences with her clients, who range from individual researchers to academic labs, biotech companies, and large government agencies. She has previously worked for professional editing companies such as Cactus Communications, Enago, Science Journal Editors, and Nature Research Editing Services, where she served as both a developmental editor and quality assurance editor. In the last several years, her work has been primarily in healthcare and medicine, with a focus on virology, cancer screening and detection, the genetic basis of disease, Ending the HIV Epidemic in the US, and healthcare equity for sexual and gender minorities.

Mallory Eckstut, Ph.D.
Technical Writer | Scientific Editor
Dr. Eckstut is an experienced science researcher, editor, and writer who is passionate about effective science communication. She has over 20 years of experience in the sciences and a demonstrated history of publishing research in zoology, genetics, and comparative anatomy.
Dr. Eckstut has worked for over a decade as a science editor and technical writer and has edited well over 1000 scientific manuscripts over the course of her post-academic career. She has worked with Edanz Group, Cactus Communications, and private clients to provide scientists with a wide array of consulting services to help them publish their research. Additionally, Dr. Eckstut has extensive experience in developing high school- and college-level biology curricula for educational companies and has written and edited biology content for Sapling Learning/MacMillan Learning, Wisewire, Inc. (formerly Words & Numbers, Inc.), and Sophia Learning.
Donald Clermont, M.P.H.
Principal Statistician | Analyses and Data Visualization
Don is a data analyst and statistician specializing in health care and academic research. He earned his M.P.H. from Tufts University, where he specialized in biostatistics and public health. He has held research positions at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and at Harvard Medical School, and enjoys challenging research projects that involve robust statistical methods. Don principally uses Stata, SPSS, and Excel for data management and analysis, and Tableau and MS BI to create data visualizations.
Much of Don’s experience has also involved programming and analyzing survey data with programs such as Qualtrics and Alchemer. He is also experienced in mixed methods study design and qualitative research using programs such as MAXQDA. He is a responsive, eager analyst who is passionate about data.
